The Ellmau local history museum “Beim Wegmacher” was built in 1555 as a miners’ cottage. After an eventful past, the house was rebuilt by a master carpenter in 1898 and today presents itself as a rustic local history museum. The museum is closed during the winter months.

The Schwarzsee is a small moorland lake in the Kitzbühel Alps. It is considered the warmest moorland lake in Tyrol. The Schwarzsee is located 2 km from Kitzbühel. In summer it is a popular bathing lake and in winter the frozen ice surface is ideal for walking, ice skating and curling.

Enjoy unadulterated holiday pleasure at one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Tyrol. The crystal-clear lake, which is up to 36 metres deep, is located in the Wilder Kaiser nature reserve.
